Studio 170 is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) organization cultivating a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and learning at the Goethe-Institut Boston. It is committed to the advancement of German language and culture by funding creative and intellectual projects that foster and promote international/transatlantic exchange and dialogue.

The hub of Studio 170 activities is the Goethe-Institut at 170 Beacon Street, Boston, and the organization is sustained through the efforts of an all-volunteer board and the support of local donors who share the organization’s values and mission.

Studio 170@Goethe-Institut Boston actively facilitates the transatlantic exchange of ideas in the realm of arts and culture. Through artist residencies, performance opportunities, and collaborative projects, we provide a platform for artists of all disciplines, with a special focus on those residing in New England, to develop and share their unique perspectives and creative expressions. We aim to create a space where diverse voices are celebrated and where art becomes a powerful catalyst for understanding and change.
Empowering Language and Cultural Enthusiasts
Language is a key to understanding and connecting with different cultures. We are dedicated to offering opportunities for individuals keen to harness their German language skills. Through language courses, cultural events, and immersive experiences, we provide avenues for people to deepen their appreciation of German culture and engage in meaningful cross-cultural exchanges. We believe that language is not just a tool but a gateway to mutual understanding and trustful dialogue.
Supporting Vital But Underfunded Initiatives
We recognize that there are projects vital for the Goethe-Institut Boston's mission that may not always be financially feasible. Studio 170@Goethe-Institut Boston commits to providing the necessary support to ensure these critical initiatives thrive.
